RECENT WORKSHOPS HELD AT THE MRC

We’ve hosted a range of amazing workshops over the last year. Check out the details below about what workshops we’ve held and the types of things we might do again.

COMPLETED COURSES:

KIDS FILMMAKING BOOTCAMP || JANUARY 2016 SCHOOL HOLIDAYS

School holiday filmmaking bootcamps are a fun and social school holiday activity where participants make a short film to enter into the local and national film festivals including the Adelaide Kids Film Festival. Instructed by professional filmmakers.

All film production equipment and professional facilitators are supplied by the Media Resource Centre (MRC) and the final films can be privately screened for family at the week’s end.

LEAN FILMMAKING WORKSHOP PART ONE 7 FEB
When you’re a filmmaker, you are also in business. In this workshop you will learn how to think entrepreneurially about your filmmaking. You will be taken through the basics of entrepreneurialism, including how to undertake a classic audit – what are my assets, how do I exploit them?

PRODUCERS WORKSHOP

This 1.5x day workshop will walk you through the critical thinking and skills you need as you build your track record as a producer. How to choose a project including its festival and marketing potential, the basics of production management including team dynamics and using an A-Z budget and other industry templates such as call sheets.

Whilst this workshop is aimed at those mainly working in shorts including webisodes, Kirsty will also cover how she took her shorts production experience into features and what kind of step-up knowledge was required. Two case studies will also form part of the workshop.

CUTTING TO THE BEAT // TEENS WORKSHOP

We all have stories about the events, people and places in our lives. Digital stories are short, personal multimedia tales told from the heart and anyone can make them. The stories will screen as shorts before the Seniors on Screen program and will find an online home on our YouTube channel. This much-loved workshop invariably sells out, so book early.

In collaboration with Carclew Youth Arts, we are running our first music video workshop. Teams will come up with a concept, storyboard, act, film and edit a music video to their chosen song. Editing is crucial part of making music videos, and in this great course students will learn the value of cutting to the beat.
