James Brown is Project Manager of Madman Entertainment’s Films, Arthouse and Directors Suite labels. He has been affiliated with the Adelaide Film Festival since its inception, first as Print Coordinator, then Program Assistant and most recently as the Program Coordinator of the 2011 event.
He completed a masters in Screen Studies at Flinders University, where he also ran a 16mm film society that eventually migrated to the Iris.
For a few years he was the Research Coordinator of the Australia Business Arts Foundation, the key national advisory fostering private sector support for the arts.
James’ critical writing on film has appeared in Variety, Metro Magazine, Screening the Past, Senses of Cinema and Heroic Cinema, a great deal of it on Asian cinema.
He is not to be confused with the countless other James Brown’s working in media and entertainment industries…
