Make a 1-3 film for Filmaka

Make a 1-3 film for Filmaka and you could win funding to direct your feature film. The competition is judged by international film professionals, including Werner Herzog, Zak Penn, and Deepak Nayar.

Each month there is a new theme and 10-20 filmmakers receive $500-$3000. Three of them go on to compete for feature funding. Last year's final winner, Nuru Rimington-Mkali, got $5 million to direct his film! This month's theme is Truth or Dare - if you've got an idea.

ARTISTS WANTED!

In October 2008, Adelaide’s Hellenic Cultural Festival ODYSSEY enters its third year where it will once again present a Contemporary Greek Australian Art exhibition.

Whether you’re Greek, Greek-Australian OR an artist with a passion for Hellenic culture we’re inviting you to participate by creating artwork based on the theme 'The Journey of Youth' i.e 'The ODYSSEY of Youth'.

This theme can be interpreted any way you wish, however we ask that it must be a wall mountable piece where the winning artwork will receive $1,500 thanks to the Maras Group.

Call for Submissions: Surrealism in Film

The Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers (CSIF) is looking for media works that deal with the theme of Surrealism. In celebration of the 80th anniversary of Luis Buneul and Salvador Dali's Un Chien Andalou, the CSIF is looking for works that explore the topic of Surrealism in their content or style. All works should use film either in the production and/or post production stage.

No entry fee is required and all works accepted will be paid screening fees.
Deadline is 31 July 2008.

In The Bin Short Film Festival
Call for entries

In the Bin is looking for films for the In The Bin Film Festival’s four nights of the very best of Australasian short films.

Categories include: Boardshorts sports film festival, Cart-orts Animated and family short film festival and In The Bin Short Film Festival. When entering you have the chance to win cash and prizes for your film along with the funkiest trophies! If your film is selected to tour, your film will be screened at some of Australia’s most unique communities and venues and as we are Australia’s widest touring short film festival and if your film is selected to tour you will be payed $20 per screening at each festival, not bad considering we are aiming for over 60 this year!

Just download an entry form from www.inthebin.net.au, and send your film on either DVD or VHS with two pics and we will do the rest of the work!

Adelaide Film Festival 2009 call for entries

The acclaimed biennial Adelaide Film Festival is one of the youngest but most dynamic and innovative film festivals in the world, with a program including special events, live performance and the premiere of films commissioned by the Adelaide Film Festival Investment Fund.

The Adelaide Film Festival 2009 is calling for submissions of feature films, documentaries and shorts made in Australia and internationally, completed after February 2007. All genres of contemporary screen culture are welcomed including drama, documentary, experimental, new media, and animation.

The deadline for both feature films and short films submissions is Friday 17 October 2008.
